About OSMC

Oakville Sports Medicine Centre (OSMC) employs Practitioners Trained in manual skills such as Athletic Therapy, Osteopathy and Physiotherapy. We have specific experience in treating elite athletes as well as clients who wish to return to an active lifestyle.

Clients seeking treatment are assessed through a whole body and individual sport approach, with the therapist looking at the cause of injury, the postural and mechanical obstacles inhibiting recovery and the specific demands of the client’s sport/activity.

Our expertise in sport specific and cross training principles allows the Practitioners to design pre-surgery treatment and conditioning, along with rehabilitation protocols to address each client’s needs. Our whole body approach, using a sports medicine protocol model and manual skills have helped our clients achieve their goals of recovery where other facilities have failed.

Oakville Sports Medicine Centre Covid-19 Up-date

Our top priority is the health and well-being of our clients, families, and staff. Under the Ontario Emergency Measures Act we will remain ordered closed until further notice. We are hoping to re-open June 22.

Chiropractic, Physiotherapy, and Massage Therapy have different regulating bodies and are presently allowed to re-open. Osteopathic Manual Practice and Athletic Therapy do not fall under these guidelines set by the Ontario Government and will remain closed until the Chief Medical Officer of Ontario allows the re-opening of these Association’s services.

Clinics that have re-opened who offer Massage Therapy, Physiotherapy and Chiropractic who may have Osteopathic or Athletic Therapy training are still sanctioned by the Ontario Government not to treat using the skills they may have acquired as an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner or Athletic Therapist. These facilities may only offer treatment in the regulated practices as they have been educated in specific to Massage Therapist Techniques/Skills, Physiotherapy Skills and Chiropractic Techniques/Skills.

New Covid-19 Standards at OSMC to help protect clients and staff:

  • When making all appointments or courtesy appointment reminder calls by the front desk staff, all clients will be asked questions specific to Covid-19 sickness/travel restriction standards. Before entering the facility please STOP and Read Signage Posted before entering the clinic.

  • Only five clients at a time will be allowed into the clinic/premises. If the person seeking treatment is 15 years of age or younger and clients with disabilities will be allowed one adult/guardian to accompany them for the appointment/treatment.

  • Plexi-glass barriers have been installed at the front desk and the waiting area has been reduced to allow for social distancing (6 feet or 2 metres). All cloth chairs have been removed and surfaces that can be readily cleaned are provided if you must sit.

  • Practitioners will be wearing masks during all treatments, washing hands (as already practiced), beds, doorknobs, hard surfaces in rooms will be wiped down before and after each client treatment. All pillows have been removed from treatment areas.

  • The front desk staff will have increased cleaning duties. All entrance handles/doorknobs and hard surfaces will be wiped every half hour. Please inform the front desk if you have used the washroom so they may properly wipe down all taps, toilet seats and handles.

  • We are now accepting “TAP” method payments for your safety as well as previously, “Touch Pin Pad” for Debit, Visa, Mastercard and cash or cheque.

  • Please feel free to come wearing a mask for your treatment. You may be asked to remove your mask for specific treatment techniques only if you are comfortable removing your mask.

At this present time, we thank you for your continued understanding, patience, and support during our Covid-19 closure. We look forward to re-opening as soon as we are deemed able to under new Ontario Government Covid-19 Standards.
